The Nickelodeon child star is known for films like She’s the ManHairspray, and What a Girl Wants. Her mother was granted temporary conservatorship over her daughter in 2013 after Bynes allegedly set fire to a driveway. Lynn regained conservatorship of the actor in 2014.

In September, a report on Bynes’ health was submitted to the court in California, which was then approved. The next update on her health was scheduled for January 2023.

Bynes’ lawyer said her conservatorship was “not extended” through 2023. “Her conservatorship will terminate when it is no longer convenient for Amanda,” he told the publication. He highlighted how Bynes is in a good place these days. “She lives by the beach, attends school, and is enjoying meditation and Soul Cycle classes.”

The She’s the Man actor is engaged to Paul Michael whom she met at her former sober living home in late 2019.

Petition filed against the actor

In 2020, her lawyer told the publication about Bynes’ pursuing a degree at California’s Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising after graduating with her associate’s degree in 2019.

“Amanda is very entrepreneurial,” he said at the time. “She is investigating fragrances. She is now considering perfume in addition to a clothing line. But, don’t get too excited. She is still a student at FIDM earning her degree.”

In 2013, Bynes’ parents expressed deep concerns to the court that their daughter may hurt herself or others unless they are allowed to assume control over her medical care and finances.

The petition they filed detailed her public incidents of disturbing behavior, including several arrests, and also revealed that the former child star has stated fears that she is being watched by smoke detectors and devices in the dashboard of her car.

Bynes was put under psychiatric hold after authorities said she set a fire in the driveway of a home in the Los Angeles suburb of Thousand Oaks, where she grew up.

Popstar Britney Spears last November regained control of her personal life and her money when a judge ended a 13-year conservatorship that became a cause legal case for fans and critics of an arrangement typically meant to protect the elderly.
