‘Educated Ones Are Always A Class Above’ – Nadia Hussain Defends Herself Amid Elitism Allegation

A lot of people have taken issue with actor and model Nadia Hussain’s remarks that the older “educated” lot of models are better than the newer lot of models. Nonetheless, the 43-year-old model has now responded in defense of her statement.

Deeming her comments “elitist”, many called out the makeup artist for not realizing her privilege and for her “ignorant” attitude.

The model took to Instagram to respond to the backlash, and asserted that she stands for “being educated” regardless of professions and exclaimed that the “educated ones are always a class above.”

“There is no denying that education sets you apart,” read a note that Hussain posted to support her previous statement on the lack of educated models in the industry today.

Expanding on the importance of education, she wrote, “Education gives you bigger goals, objectives, and aspirations in life. The educated ones are certainly always a class above anybody! They always reflect a personality, and a demeanor greater than the uneducated ones… I will always give education priority over anything.”

Model Sarah Zulfiqar previously took to her Instagram stories to call out Hussain. Responding to Zulfiqar, Hussain wrote, “Education and talent are separate things altogether. It’s like comparing apples and oranges. Education will always guide you that there are no shortcuts in life. Know and understand that if you are educated, you are not the one being talked about”.

Hussain recently made an appearance on Time Out with Ahsan Khan and reminisced about the good ol’ days, voicing her frustration with the way things are done today in the fashion industry.

In the statements made on the show, the model exclaimed that models of today are uneducated and that council members don’t care if they don’t have the “height”. She lamented how there were “no criteria” and that “it was only about whether you could get permission”.

Responding to the same, Zulfiqar posted in a series of Instagram stories that are now unavailable, “Talent is talent and maturity is maturity no matter where it comes from. [Nadia’s] statement is incredibly elitist and ignorant.”

In her comments on newer models, Hussain also criticized the higher number of models in the industry. “Maybe there are many more models today than there were then, but why is that so horrible?” she questioned.

Hussain then went on to advise.“Be confident in your own posing style and niche instead of complaining about other people and you’ll do just fine.”

Hussain earlier launched a new makeup product – a makeup palette – for her beauty line. When the makeup artist Nabila Maqsood found out about her latest product, a war of words began between the two since the model’s product was similar to Nabila’s product.
