Delhi – Indian singer and musician Bipi Lahri has passed at the age of 69. Bipi Lahri has been in hospital for the past one month due to various health problems, however, he was discharged from the hospital on Monday. According to him, on Tuesday, Bipi Lahri’s health deteriorated again.
He was rushed to hospital again but could not recover and last night he breathed his last in a Mumbai hospital. He passed away of OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea) shortly before midnight. Bipi Lahri was a big name in the Indian music industry and one of the most influential figures in the world of Indian film music. He is also known as the pioneer of Bollywood discos of the 80’s and 90’s. He gave many super hit songs including songs from the movie “Disco Dancer” and “Namak Halal”. Apart from Hindi, he also rendered invaluable services to Bengali cinema. Bipi Lehri also sang many of his own compositions, including the super hit song “Koi Yahan Nache Nache” from the movie “Disco Dancer” and the song “Pyaar Bana China Kahan” from the movie “Sahib”. Apart from his music, Bapi Da was also known for wearing heavy gold chains and sunglasses.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also expressed regret over the sad news of Bapi Lahiri. In a tweet released on Twitter, Narendra Modi said that Bipi Lahri’s music was versatile and beautifully expressed a variety of emotions. Bipi Lahri was called the rock star of Bollywood and he provided many famous songs to the Indian film industry. Done Bipi Lehri sang for disco dancers and drunkards during popular Indian films in the late 1970s and ’80s. Bapi Lahiri had shared a picture of her childhood with Lata Mangeshkar’s passed a few days ago.
